Denisse Kuri FW25 Weaves an Ode to Matriarchal Grace: Threads of Devotion
Denisse Kuri unveiled Mamá Gallina at Mexico Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2025–2026—a collection that transcends mere fashion to become a tactile elegy to motherhood. Rooted in emotional resonance and cultural memory, the collection draws inspiration from the archetype of the mother hen—a symbol of warmth, strength, and protection.
Kuri’s narrative unfolds through silhouettes imbued with ancestral wisdom, rendered in artisanal textiles sourced from Chiapas, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Guerrero, and Oaxaca. Each garment is a canvas of collaboration, meticulously crafted using traditional backstrap loom techniques, intricate embroidery, and natural fibers such as jonote and silk native to the region. These materials are transformed into garments that evoke the complexity of maternal love—at once fierce, fragile, and eternal.
Beyond their visual beauty, the pieces honor the women behind them: indigenous artisans whose generational knowledge breathes life into every stitch. In Mamá Gallina, Kuri reframes maternity as a collective act of cultural preservation, where craft becomes legacy, and fashion, a form of intimate storytelling. The collection is not only worn—it is felt, remembered, and passed down.
