Ngali Resort 2026: A Reverent Journey Through Country and Culture

At Australian Fashion Week 2025, Ngali unveiled its Resort 2026 collection—The Yawa: Journey Collection—a profoundly moving exploration of Indigenous identity, memory, and place. Designed by Wiradjuri woman Denni Francisco, the collection serves as both a personal and communal storytelling experience, weaving together threads of art, ancestry, and Country.

Francisco’s poetic use of First Nations artwork and her own photographic essays transformed garments into visual narratives. A rich palette of ochre, rust, sky blue, and riverine hues captured the spirit of the Australian landscape, while Bunjil—the wedge-tailed eagle and ancestral creator—soared symbolically through the collection as a spiritual guide.

The runway was a landmark moment for Indigenous representation, with ten of the twenty-five models being First Nations women, including Charlee Fraser, Cindy Rostrum, and Shamaiah Sullivan. Set to the immersive sounds of the didgeridoo, the show unfolded as a tribute to culture, resilience, and the shared journey of self and collective.
