Murral Fall/Winter 2025–2026 Collection: DARN — Threads of Memory, Petals of Endurance
With its Fall/Winter 2025–2026 collection, Murral offers a quiet yet profound meditation on the beauty of repair. Titled DARN, this season’s offering from designers Yusuke Muramatsu and Ayumi Sekiguchi is more than a continuation of their poetic visual language—it is an emotional act, a sartorial restoration of spirit through fabric.
Rooted in the Japanese tradition of embracing imperfection, DARN elevates the act of mending into an art form. Every piece feels like a whispered elegy to something once broken and now made whole—stitch by tender stitch. The inspiration unfurls like petals adrift on water, drawing from the imagery of hanaikada, the poetic “flower rafts” formed as blooms fall and float gently downstream. This motif becomes both visual and visceral, echoed in the movement, layering, and emotional fluidity of the garments.
True to Murral’s identity, flowers remain central—not just in form but in philosophy. The ephemeral cycle of blooms—budding, flourishing, fading—is mirrored in garments that speak of resilience and regeneration. At the heart of this season’s aesthetic lies embcloth, a method of layering shaped textile fragments that are individually embroidered to resemble scattered petals. The result is garments that ripple with depth and memory, as if nature itself had sewn each piece.
Florals are no longer mere decoration—they’re acts of reclamation. In pieces where embroidery and patchwork fuse into a single surface, bold fabrics like velvet, satin, and synthetic leather are shaped into applique motifs, each one enhanced by thick, purposeful threadwork. The effect is textural and tactile—a visual map of care and intention, of beauty born from deliberate labor.
One emblem stands out: the Shirobana Enrei-sou, a delicate white blossom known for turning translucent when touched by dew. Murral transforms this metaphor into lacework so fine it seems to vanish upon contact, paired with trailing fringe that captures the essence of morning mist. Its quiet symbolism of purification and emotional clarity anchors the collection, appearing across tailored jackets, flowing skirts, and sculpted pants.
Contrasts unfold softly throughout. Trench-like structure meets the flutter of a petal. Outerwear is imbued with sculpture, as fleece embroidered with botanical elements meets twisted, contoured sleeves. Even bomber jackets become poetry, defying expectations with tender contradictions.
But this is not just fashion—it is philosophy made wearable. In DARN, Murral proposes that to mend is not merely to fix, but to honor the process of healing. The garments don’t erase the breakage—they celebrate it. Each stitch carries the memory of its making. Each layer tells a story of what once was and what has bloomed anew.
In a world rushing forward, DARN invites us to slow down and look closer—to value the beauty of the process, the stitch, the scar. Murral reminds us that mending is not weakness, but strength. Not loss, but transformation.
