Någonstans SS26 Collection: Mountain Trail at Tokyo Fashion Week
At the Brillia Running Stadium in Shin-Toyosu, Någonstans presented its Spring Summer 2026 collection, Mountain Trail: A Poetic Expedition into Alpine Landscapes, staged during Tokyo Fashion Week. Designer Mizuki Ueda reimagined the act of trekking through verdant paths, steep ridges, and stony terrain, weaving the brand’s ethos of “Somewhere You Belong” into a narrative of movement, resilience, and wonder.
Silhouettes mirrored the topography of mountain routes. Relaxed coats evoked the soft undulation of trails, while asymmetrical dresses traced jagged ridgelines. Voluminous outerwear in waterproof fabrics suggested sudden weather shifts, grounding the collection in utility without breaking its lyrical flow. The garments moved with a sense of transformation, their forms shifting like landscapes under changing light.
Texture and surface detailing deepened the story. Sheer camisole dresses, puckered into irregular volumes, recalled rocky formations, while vests and trousers studded with orderly pockets echoed the layered vistas of distant peaks. A strapless dress stretched into a panoramic sky-and-mountain print, merging the body with the horizon.
Distinctive cuts: deep U-shaped jumper skirts, sculptural shoulder treatments, open-neck bodysuits were rendered in a palette that swung from earthy grounding tones to bold, high-altitude brights, encapsulating both the raw and the sublime. Accessories and headpieces further enhanced the impression of Alpine ritual, blending the utilitarian with the fantastical.
With Mountain Trail, Någonstans offered more than clothing: it staged an ascent, a dialogue between body and environment, function and imagination. The show captured nature’s majesty not as a backdrop but as a collaborator, reaffirming Ueda’s vision of fashion as a terrain of belonging.
