Totême SS26 Collection: The Art of Undone Elegance
For Spring Summer 2026 at New York Fashion Week, Totême distilled its Scandinavian minimalism into a study of "undone beauty", where precision met ease and restraint revealed its sensual side. Staged in the storied Pool Room of the Four Seasons, the setting echoed the brand’s transatlantic dialogue Stockholm clarity refracted through New York sophistication.
Silhouettes leaned into languid confidence: pajama-inspired shirts styled with skirts, compact knits tracing the torso before giving way to fluid silk hems, and sliplike skirts that shifted with movement. Knitwear emerged as the collection’s quiet anchor, spanning dense, sculpted gauges to featherweight yarns that created volume without weight. Fabric contrasts were subtle yet striking – washed leathers against pearlescent ivory and matte finishes against liquid shine – rendering monochrome palettes as layered studies in tactility.
Styling reinforced the narrative of intentional dishevelment. The new Clip bag appeared half-fastened, coats were draped over arms as if in mid-departure, and flat Mary Jane slingbacks grounded the looks with understated chic. Hair looked air-dried and loosely tied, makeup softly blurred—signaling control undone just enough to feel intimate.
Technical mastery underpinned the ease: knits were engineered to contour and release with precision, silks were cut to skim rather than cling, and washed leathers were softened to second-skin suppleness. A glint of metal-threaded textiles provided structure, balancing the airy romance of lace and crinkled finishes. Closing looks openwork lace pieces inspired by tablecloth heirlooms translated domestic memory into modern proportion, fragile textures offsetting pared-back shapes with emotional resonance.
In SS26, Totême achieved a delicate equilibrium: clothes that whisper rather than shout, marrying intimacy with exactitude, and offering a vision of luxury rooted in quiet confidence.
