Ganni SS26 Collection: Memory in Bloom
For Spring/Summer 2026, Ganni took an unexpected turn, trading the runway for a lookbook and presentation at the Bastille Design Center. Known for exuberant Copenhagen shows and playful Paris outings, the brand’s pivot to a slower, more intimate format felt like its own act of rebellion. The industrial 19th-century venue, softened by flowers and wooden mannequins, invited guests to look closer at texture, detail, and craft while a looping film of hazy summer fragments set a nostalgic tone.
The collection itself extended this mood, refracted through Ganni’s signature lens of personality and play. Florals remained central, but warped and sculptural blooming as appliqués across denim and crochet, or shaping a khaki recycled-patent dress into smocked petals. A standout belted trench, panniered into tulip-like volume, embodied the season’s “flower universe”, while a crinkled white dress evoked peeling wallpaper, memory imperfectly preserved. Even leopard print surfaced, nostalgia twisted into something wry and contemporary.
Silhouettes leaned toward freedom and experimentation. Bandeau tops layered over dresses and jackets, trailing scarves emphasized movement, and clogs paid homage to Scandinavian roots while styling resisted minimalism. A gray drop-waist dress and a buttoned off-shoulder top offered restraint, though softened by print and layering. Accessories like the “Posy” gardening bag bridged whimsy and practicality, underscoring commercial viability while keeping the mood playful.
If some appliqués edged toward costume, the overall spirit was one of optimism threaded with complexity. Ganni used the quiet of the presentation to its advantage, letting viewers linger on pieces that invited touch, garments to be tied, knotted, and styled in front of a mirror, alive with spontaneity.
The result was a collection that blurred memory with immediacy and nostalgia with rebellion. By layering craft with play and sentiment with wit, Ganni’s Spring/Summer 2026 felt both deeply personal and deliberately unruly, fashion as a living scrapbook of summer, imperfect yet full of bloom.
