HANNAH SHIN SS26 Collection “La Nueva Perla” : Where Surrealism Meets AI Couture
Inspired by André Breton’s surrealist vision of la machine à rêver, the dream machine, HANNAH SHIN Spring/Summer 2026 “La Nueva Perla” manifests the unconscious into form. It is a study in dream logic and digital emotion, where memories, algorithms, and anatomy converge to redefine the language of couture.
This season, the Seoul-based designer explores the uncanny harmony between the human nervous system and artificial intelligence. Through an anatomical lens, flora, flesh, and machine dissolve into one continuum; the body is reimagined as both organism and interface. The collection’s silhouettes echo the fluid geometries of Joan Miró’s abstraction, translated into a futuristic tactile vocabulary.
Key pieces evoke neural lace structures — rendered in 3D fly-knit, translucent mesh, sequins, crystal fragments, and upcycled robotic components. Revisiting signature techniques such as chrome 3D printing, laser-engraved leather, and hydro-molded skins, Shin constructs garments that blur the boundaries between the organic and the algorithmic.
By juxtaposing biodegradable fibers with cold metals and asymmetry, “La Nueva Perla” becomes a metaphor for the unconscious mind at work—erratic, emotive, yet achingly beautiful.
At its essence, La Machine à Rêver is an ode to the architecture of human perception — the same neurological lattice that gave birth to artificial intelligence. Here, science and couture intertwine, giving rise to a structural poetics where emotion and code coexist in surreal equilibrium.
