Miss Sohee SS26 Haute Couture: Where the Body Becomes a Window
Miss Sohee’s Spring/Summer 2026 haute couture collection unfolded as a poetic meditation on intimacy and observation, shaped by a delicate tension between interior emotion and the external world. Presented within the gilded salons of the Shangri-La, the opulence of the setting acted not as a spectacle but as a quiet frame for a deeply personal narrative rooted in memory. At the heart of the collection was a single, recurring image: a window in Sohee Park’s family home in southern Korea, through which she once watched wisteria bloom, bamboo sway, and light dissolve into sea and sky. That act of looking became the conceptual anchor, positioning the female form as a threshold between self and landscape.
Park’s signature sculptural language returned with confidence. Corseted hourglass silhouettes and fluted skirts served as architectural canvases for imagined terrains, embroidered with mountains, orchids, and nocturnal skies that unfolded across the body like living tableaux. Nature escaped the surface and entered the realm of three-dimensional couture, with brass bamboo branches erupting from necklines and cherry blossoms cascading across gowns. The line between garment and surreal vision blurred further when a model appeared, carrying a taxidermied albino peacock, its pale plumage mirroring the feathery textures of her look and amplifying the collection’s dreamlike intensity.
Bridalwear emerged as a central focus, reflecting Park’s growing couture clientele while resisting traditional sentimentality. Her brides were rendered young, assertive, and modern, culminating in a final look defined by a hooded veil inspired by traditional Korean head coverings. Crafted from layers of sheer silk embroidered with wave-like motifs and densely set with Swarovski crystals, the gown balanced heritage with a forward-looking sense of glamour, ethereal yet unmistakably powerful.
Throughout the collection, Park demonstrated a precise understanding of the female body, where to sculpt, where to release, and how to construct garments that command presence without rigidity. While the density of symbolism and embellishment occasionally threatened to eclipse the clothes, the underlying discipline of cut and structure remained resolute. Miss Sohee's Spring/Summer 2026 collection ultimately positioned couture as both vessel and vision, capturing private landscapes, cultural memory, and imagined horizons within the architecture of the body itself.
