Diane von Furstenberg FW26-27 Collection: La Serenissima Reimagined
For Fall/Winter 2026–2027, Diane von Furstenberg’s lookbook, helmed by Chief Design Officer Nathan Jenden, channeled the elusive romance of Venice into a wardrobe defined by fluidity and modern poise. Titled La Serenissima, the collection captured the city’s dual temperament: intimate yet theatrical, tranquil yet charged with allure.
Layering formed the structural backbone. Handkerchief-hem chiffon skirts drifted beneath reversible double-face wool coats, while plush faux-fur toppers introduced tactile contrast. Two-in-one dresses, slip silhouettes fused with hand-beaded tulle overlays, created depth without heaviness, reinforcing the house’s enduring dialogue between softness and structure. Knitwear emerged as a quiet protagonist: abstract argyle sweaters, stretch suede, and boiled merino wool pieces emphasized pull-on practicality with elevated finishes.
Print has always been central to DVF’s lexicon, and here it evolved with subtle audacity. Tapestry motifs, archival snake patterns, and hand-painted buffalo plaid rendered in stretch sequins injected dimension and movement. Outerwear maintained a grounded sensibility; leather bombers returned in supple treatments, balancing romance with everyday authority.
The palette reflected Venice’s muted luminosity: nuanced tonal harmonies punctuated by unexpected pairings that suggested light glancing off canal waters at dusk. Silhouettes oscillated between relaxed draping and defined tailoring, ensuring versatility without sacrificing elegance.
At its core, the collection reaffirmed DVF’s heritage, wrap dresses, shirtdresses, and fluid femininity, while recalibrating them for contemporary life. Fall/Winter 2026–2027 did not romanticize the past; it translated it. In Jenden’s hands, Venice became not a backdrop but a sensibility, seductive, assured, and entirely wearable.
