Ernesto Naranjo FW26-27 Collection: Reconstruction as Identity
Presented during Madrid Fashion Week, Ernesto Naranjo unveiled his Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection, The Return, The Celebration, as a meditation on identity, not as something fixed but continuously reassembled. Rather than framing return as nostalgia, Naranjo approached it as recomposition, an integration of experiences, places, and creative influences into a newly resolved whole.
This philosophy materialised through a rigorous exploration of construction. Garments emerged as collaged forms, where disparate fabrics, contrasting in texture, weight, and finish, were brought together with precision. Textile became both medium and message, each piece suggesting an emotional and material layering that mirrored the complexities of personal evolution. The act of assembly itself carried meaning, transforming fragmentation into cohesion.
Silhouettes extended this dialogue. Volumes appeared manipulated, folded, stretched, or subtly displaced, creating a tension between structure and movement. Panels were engineered with architectural clarity, allowing garments to respond dynamically to the body rather than simply rest upon it. The result was clothing that felt active, shifting with light and motion, reinforcing the idea of fashion as a living form.
Surface treatment further amplified this sensibility. Fabrics bore the trace of gesture, twisted, compressed, and expanded, recalling the immediacy of artistic processes. Here, material functioned almost as a record of action, capturing the energy of its own making. The influence of performative art practices was evident, lending the collection a tactile immediacy that moved beyond purely visual impact.
As the show progressed, a subtle transformation unfolded. The palette intensified, volumes expanded, and the atmosphere shifted from introspective to expressive. Hints of nightlife emerged, an echo of the charged glamour associated with Studio 54, introducing a sense of release without disrupting the collection’s conceptual coherence. This evolution felt deliberate, extending the narrative from inward reflection to outward celebration.
Fall/Winter 2026–2027 ultimately positions Ernesto Naranjo within a space where conceptual discipline meets sensory experience. The collection navigates reconstruction with clarity and control, while allowing moments of exuberance to surface. It is a statement of renewed identity, one that embraces complexity yet resolves it into a language that feels both immediate and assured.
