Baro Lucas FW26-27 Collection: Tailoring at the Edge of Perception
At Madrid Fashion Week, staged within the opulent interiors of Palacio de Fernán Núñez, Baro Lucas unveiled a Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection that fused sartorial precision with an introspective, deeply personal narrative. Under the direction of Álvaro Lucas Santos, the house reaffirmed its commitment to tailoring while expanding its emotional and conceptual scope.
Titled 110DB, the collection draws from the designer’s lived experience with severe hearing loss, referencing the decibel level at which sound becomes perceptible without assistance. Rather than framing this as a limitation, Lucas Santos reinterprets it as a lens through which perception is heightened, an idea translated into garments that invite a more nuanced, multi-sensory engagement. The presence of models wearing visible hearing aids reinforced this perspective with quiet conviction, embedding representation seamlessly into the show’s visual language.
Tailoring remained the foundation. Jackets, sharp, controlled, and immaculately proportioned, anchored the collection, paired with streamlined trousers and elongated coats that articulated a coherent and disciplined wardrobe. The suit, here, was not treated as a relic of tradition but as a living structure, adaptable, precise, and open to reinterpretation.
This rigor was softened by the introduction of eveningwear and bridal-adjacent silhouettes, where velvet, wool, and refined suiting fabrics explored contrasts of weight and texture. Prince of Wales checks and deep, saturated tones grounded the collection in a classical European lexicon, while moments of fluidity prevented the overall composition from feeling static.
Subtle cultural references added further depth. Echoes of Antoñita La Singla emerged through restrained gestures, ruffled hems suggesting movement, and flashes of red punctuating a palette of burgundy, charcoal, black, pale pink, and ivory. These elements introduced rhythm without disrupting the collection’s measured clarity.
Materiality played a defining role. Cold wool, velvet, and traditional tailoring fabrics were selected not only for their visual refinement but also for their tactile resonance, aligning with the collection’s broader meditation on sensory awareness. Each piece invited not just observation, but a more intimate interaction with texture and construction.
With 110DB, Baro Lucas delivers a collection that is both technically assured and conceptually considered. It is a study in restraint and precision, where tailoring becomes more than forms; it becomes a medium through which identity, perception, and personal narrative are quietly but powerfully expressed.
