Ancellm presented its Spring Summer 2027 collection in Tokyo through an atmospheric setting inside a glass train station, allowing natural daylight to become an integral part of the presentation. From the cool clarity of pale morning tones to the deep indigo of dusk, the changing light mirrored the collection's own transition, where familiar materials were softened, faded, and transformed into something unexpectedly ethereal.

Founded in Kojima in 2020 by Kazuya Yamachika, Ancellm has built its identity around an experimental approach to fabric, challenging conventional ideas of what materials can become. For SS27, that instinct remains but takes on a more refined and relaxed expression. Sulfur-dyed tailoring, washed denim, and shaved leather are reworked into almost ghostly shades, contrasted by flashes of sunset orange and dusty pink knitwear. The result is a more bohemian silhouette defined less by technical bravado than by fluidity, proportion, and movement.

The collection's Gobelin set distils this philosophy particularly well. A textile traditionally associated with weighty tapestry is deliberately loosened until its pastoral toile de Jouy pattern becomes almost fragile, taking on a hand-drawn, childlike quality. Recast into wide, relaxed shorts and a belted jacket, the fabric loses its heaviness while retaining its character, transforming an unlikely material into effortless everyday dressing.

With Spring Summer 2027, Ancellm demonstrates that innovation does not always require spectacle. Through meticulous manipulation, unexpected fabric treatments, and an increasingly sophisticated approach to silhouette, Yamachika continues to redefine the possibilities of Japanese textile craftsmanship, creating clothing that feels instinctive, tactile, and quietly extraordinary.
