Hannah Shin Unveils 'The Shimmer' - Bodies in Refraction at Seoul Fashion Week 2026–2027
The future of fashion isn't coming. It's already here.
For FW26–27, Seoul-based couture house Hannah Shin presented THE SHIMMER: Bodies in Refraction, a hypnotic exploration of technology, movement, and the evolving relationship between the human body and fashion.

Presented during Seoul Fashion Week, the collection transformed the runway into an immersive world of shimmering surfaces, sculptural silhouettes, and garments that appeared to move and breathe with the wearer.
Known for pushing the boundaries of sustainable luxury through technology, designer Hannah Shin brought together fashion, AI, robotics, and advanced fabrication in a collection that felt less like traditional couture and more like a glimpse into a possible future.
THE SHIMMER
The collection's visual language was immediately striking.
Liquid-metal textures, skeletal light-reflecting structures, translucent layers, and intricate metallic formations created silhouettes that seemed to exist somewhere between fashion and engineering.
Some looks appeared almost weightless, with delicate structures tracing the body like illuminated frameworks, while others created exaggerated volumes through sculptural outerwear, cocoon-like forms, and architectural tailoring.
The contrast was part of the collection's appeal: softness against structure, transparency against density, and organic movement against engineered precision.
Couture Meets Technology
One of the most significant elements of the presentation was the debut of titanium 3D-printed couture pieces, introducing an extraordinary material language to the runway.
The collection also incorporated fluid, kinetic structures developed through technological collaboration, including work connected to KAIST and Angel Robotics.
Rather than treating technology simply as a production tool, Hannah Shin positioned it as part of the creative vocabulary of couture itself.
The result was fashion that appeared to evolve on the body—reflecting light, shifting in texture, and creating the impression of movement even when the wearer stood still.
A New Vision of Sustainable Luxury
At the heart of THE SHIMMER is a question increasingly shaping the future of fashion: what happens when craftsmanship and advanced technology are no longer opposites?
Hannah Shin's FW26–27 collection suggests a future where couture can be experimental, technologically sophisticated, and deeply conscious of material innovation.
The runway's metallic surfaces and futuristic silhouettes were not simply visual spectacle. They became a study of how fashion might respond to an increasingly technological world while retaining the artistry, individuality, and emotion that make couture compelling.
Fashion in Refraction
With THE SHIMMER: BODIES IN REFRACTION, Hannah Shin offered a vision of fashion that feels distinctly contemporary, yet strangely otherworldly.
The collection doesn't simply imagine what fashion might look like tomorrow.
It asks us to consider what the human body, couture, and technology could become together.
From shimmering metallic structures to sculptural outerwear and fluid silhouettes, Hannah Shin FW26–27 presents a future where technology doesn't replace fashion's artistry, it refracts it into something entirely new.
