Collina Strada made fashion history during New York Fashion Week by becoming the first designer invited to stage a runway at Storm King Art Center. Set among the monumental sculptures and expansive landscape, Hillary Taymour’s Spring Summer 2027 collection unfolded as a spirited dialogue between fashion, nature, and contemporary art, reflecting the venue’s shared interest in ecology, sustainability, and creative experimentation.

The collection drew on the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, while adding a playful trio of references: Rococo, Riot Grrrl, and the irreverent romance of a modern Renaissance fair. Taymour carried forward the 18th-century sensibility explored in her Copenhagen presentation, opening with a voluminous ruffled moiré cape, before introducing medieval-inspired elements such as sequined plaid evoking chain mail. The silhouettes were intentionally expansive yet remarkably light, balancing ornate romance with the rebellious energy that defines Collina Strada.

Grunge provided the essential counterpoint to fantasy. Mohawks and spiked hair accompanied ruffled sneakers created in collaboration with Converse, while skirts, generous trousers, and expressive layering brought the collection firmly into contemporary territory. Dip-dyed trousers featured sculptural rosettes at the hips, while ruching, trailing drapes, and streamers created movement as garments billowed dramatically in the wind.

The presentation became a celebration beyond the clothes themselves, culminating with Carly Rae Jepsen performing in pink as models and guests danced across the grounds. A picnic followed, featuring a collaboration with Swedish interiors brand Layered, adding an unexpectedly playful conclusion to the spectacle.

More than an unconventional fashion setting, Storm King became integral to the collection’s message. By placing fashion within an environment devoted to sculpture and nature, Collina Strada offered an expansive vision of fashion that feels connected to the landscape rather than separate from it, an exuberant meeting of imagination, sustainability, and joyful rebellion.
