In an exclusive OTS Magazine UK report produced in collaboration with our media partner INSTYLEASIA, we spotlight ORIMI’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, “PROPERLY DRESSED", presented by designer Kenta Orimi during Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO.

The collection explores the tension between looking perfectly composed and maintaining a sense of individuality underneath the surface. Rather than rejecting conventional dress codes completely, Orimi questions how they can be followed, adapted and subtly disrupted. The official Rakuten Fashion Week report describes the collection as a study of the conflict between social norms and personal expression.

That tension appears throughout the collection. Familiar tailoring is given unexpected twists: a jacket front transforms into draped fabric, silhouettes are deliberately altered, and otherwise conventional pieces are given details that make you look twice.

One of the standout pieces is the CA4LA collaboration, where the classic ribbon of a bowler-style hat is replaced with shoelace detailing. It looks polished at first glance, but the detail introduces exactly the kind of subtle disruption that defines the collection.

ORIMI also collaborated with KIDS LOVE GAITE on derby shoes, adding multiple decorative straps to a traditionally classic silhouette. Elsewhere, draping, asymmetry, oversized proportions and military-inspired pieces add further contrast to the collection.

The result is a collection that doesn't need to shout to make its point. “PROPERLY DRESSED” understands the rules and then quietly finds ways to bend them.
