GIADA SS27 Collection: The Secret Language of Jasmine and Modern Elegance
For Spring/Summer 2027, GIADA explores the delicate poetry of nature through The Secret Codes of Ancient Jasmines, a collection by creative director Gabriele Colangelo that transforms botanical heritage into a study of contemporary refinement. Inspired by the Jasminum sambac, once prized by Cosimo III de’ Medici, the collection draws on the flower’s cultural history to explore the relationship between fragility, permanence, and sculptural form. Presented during Milan Fashion Week in the Stirling Room at Palazzo Citterio, the collection unfolded beneath an installation of 3,500 paper flowers, creating an evocative dialogue between art, architecture, and nature.
Colangelo translates this inspiration into a restrained yet richly tactile wardrobe, where precise silhouettes meet the delicacy of embroidery, Calais lace, and translucent, fluid fabrics. A nuanced palette of ivory-zinc, citron, champagne, desert rose, and earthy brown lends the collection a soft, luminous quality. Hand-knotted, two-tone silk fringe introduces a captivating sense of movement, shifting between the suggestion of a skirt, a train, or a stole, while baroque pearls offer subtle echoes of jasmine blossoms. Every detail feels considered, allowing craftsmanship to speak through texture rather than excess.
The collection’s conceptual depth is further informed by the porcelain flowers of ceramic artist Zuleika Melluish, whose work preserves the intricate forms of living botanicals in a lasting medium. This tension between the fleeting and the enduring resonates throughout the garments, as floral references emerge through delicate surface treatments, tactile embellishments, and the movement of fabric. Clean lines and layered transparencies create a quiet sensuality, balancing architectural discipline with an organic fluidity that feels distinctly modern.
The presentation’s setting and soundscape further enrich this interplay of contrasts. Palazzo Citterio’s commanding architectural lines provided a striking counterpoint to the installation’s fragile paper blooms, while composer and musician Grand River shaped the show’s sonic atmosphere. Ultimately, GIADA Spring/Summer 2027 moves beyond the literal representation of a flower, translating jasmine into a language of texture, light, and motion. The result is an elegant meditation on nature’s fleeting beauty, captured through Colangelo’s distinctive vision of understated luxury and meticulous design.
