MARIKO SS27 Collection: Sculptural Elegance and the Power of Freedom
MARIKO’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection explores freedom as an act of quiet defiance, portraying a woman whose elegance and contemplative nature are matched by an unwavering determination to resist constraint. Anchored in themes of resilience, individuality, and self-determination, the lookbook presents a considered vision of femininity that extends beyond aesthetics, embracing the strength required to stand firm in the face of uncertainty.
The collection draws upon the label’s distinctive design vocabulary, informed by the clean lines of the traditional Japanese obi and the intricate, folded geometry of origami. These cultural references are reinterpreted through sculptural tailoring, precise geometric detailing, and dimensional construction, lending the garments an architectural presence and a compelling sense of form.
At the heart of the collection lies a striking interplay between refinement and rebellion. Structured silhouettes convey composure, while the underlying narrative speaks to an independent spirit unwilling to surrender its identity. Rather than relying on overt embellishment, MARIKO allows its distinctive construction and thoughtful design philosophy to articulate a deeper statement about personal freedom.
Founded by designer Mariko Kobata, the label produces its garments in Japan, working with Japanese and carefully selected imported fabrics. For Spring/Summer 2027, these foundations inform a collection that unites Japanese design sensibilities with contemporary sophistication, celebrating a woman who defines her own path with quiet conviction and uncompromising individuality.
