Fabiana Filippi’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Gesto-Architecture of the Hand, presents a thoughtful exploration of artisanal craftsmanship, material innovation, and contemporary elegance. Unveiled during Milan Fashion Week, the 20-look collection draws inspiration from Umbria’s rich craft heritage, celebrating the knowledge, precision, and creative gestures passed down through generations of skilled makers.

The presentation at Palazzo Barozzi offered an evocative interpretation of this philosophy. An installation transformed the intricate pattern of an artisan’s woven mesh into a monumental architectural feature, set against the building’s 20th-century interiors and Giulio Borsani’s frescoes. The immersive environment invited reflection on the often-unseen processes behind fashion creation, placing the patience, expertise, and human touch of craftsmanship at the forefront.

Texture and construction define the collection’s distinctive visual language. Raffia is reimagined through jacquard techniques, while thistle macramé introduces an intricate contrast against crisp poplin. Knit tweed takes on sculptural dimensions, informing a wardrobe of sophisticated knitwear, relaxed tailoring, and fluid capes that unfold into light, architectural silhouettes.

Rooted in the enduring traditions of the region, the collection also acknowledges the wicker-weaving craft still practised in Montecchio, near Orvieto. Rather than treating artisanal techniques as mere embellishment, Fabiana Filippi places the creative hand at the heart of its design narrative, allowing material, texture, and form to reveal the time and dedication invested in their creation.
