Ferragamo Pre-Fall 2026 Collection: Maritime Elegance, Reimagined
Maximilian Davis steers Ferragamo’s Pre-Fall 2026 collection into a refined dialogue between heritage, oceanic symbolism, and contemporary ease. Drawing from the house’s 1960s nautical archives, his Caribbean roots, and the contemplative imagery of Steve McQueen’s Ashes, Davis frames the season around the emotional and physical pull of the sea, its fluidity, its culture, and its place within Ferragamo’s storied history.
That influence materializes through silhouettes that drift between languid and structured. Viscose twinsets, fluid cardigans, and low-slung trousers introduce a relaxed, lounge-inflected attitude, softened further by fringed sashes that trace movement. Nautical codes unfold subtly in wide silk sailor trousers, their high waists and foldable front zips referencing functional maritime design, while elongated leather “knot” motifs reinterpret sailors’ ropes into linear, modern embellishments across shifts and dégradé tops.
Shirting becomes a site of quiet innovation, approached from multiple angles: classic menswear cuts reimagined as long, precise shirtdresses; scarf-wrapped silhouettes with fluttering foulards spliced into skirts; and asymmetric folds that add motion without disrupting the collection’s calm clarity. Italian ease anchors it all, balancing the maritime narrative with grounded, wearably sophisticated design.
Leather, a Ferragamo constant, appears with heightened nuance. Ultra-soft, unlined nappa behaves almost like fabric, while a burgundy shearling peacoat, finished to a velvety sheen, introduces depth and tactile richness. Menswear mirrors this refinement through relaxed tailoring and hybrid outerwear, including a military-green parka layered casually over a clean-lined coat and winter-white trousers, embodying a distinctly Milanese form of effortless polish.
Critically, the collection excels in weaving its maritime inspirations with restraint and intelligence. The Caribbean references feel integrated rather than decorative, and the interplay of softness and structure reflects a growing confidence in Davis’s voice. While some of the gentler silhouettes verge on diffusing the sharper architectural strength seen in earlier seasons, the overall proposition remains coherent, atmospheric, and expertly executed. Pre-Fall 2026 ultimately stands as a poised evolution of Ferragamo’s identity: fluid, textural, and quietly powerful.
