Valentino FW26-27 Campaign: 'Interferenze', Where Rome Becomes a Living Archive

For Fall/Winter 2026-2027, Alessandro Michele brings Valentino back to Rome through Interferenze, an evocative campaign that rejects the traditional postcard image of the city in favour of something more fragmented, intimate, and provocative. Conceived with art directors Ezra Petronio and Lana Petrusevych of Petronio Associates and photographed by Glen Luchford, the campaign features Apolline Rocco Fohrer, Dario Tonin, George Anderson, Joe Bottomer, and Qiuyue Li moving through a warehouse populated by monumental fragments of classical sculpture.

Here, Rome's ancient history becomes an active participant rather than a distant backdrop. Colossal marble hands, torsos, and heads are positioned alongside the living figures, creating surreal encounters in which sculpture, fashion, and architecture occupy the same visual plane. Luchford's direct flash casts dramatic shadows across blue-green institutional walls, heightening the tension between the monumental and the human. A model reclines beneath an enormous marble arm, another raises a studded Valentino Garavani bag beside a headless torso, while vivid fuchsia satin introduces a striking chromatic contrast against stone.

Suzanne Koller's styling intensifies the dialogue through combinations of austere tailoring, saturated colour, lace, leather, and devotional jewellery. Daniel Sallstrom's precise makeup and Esther Langham's controlled hair maintain an intimate human presence within the monumental surroundings, allowing the models to exist not as observers of history, but as equal participants within it.

The campaign reflects Michele's approach to heritage as something fluid, layered, and open to reinterpretation. Rather than preserving classical ideals at a distance, Interferenze places them in collision with the present, allowing fragments of the past to encounter contemporary clothing, identity, and desire. The result is unmistakably Roman in its contradictions: ancient and modern, sacred and irreverent, monumental and everyday.

With Interferenze, Valentino transforms heritage into a conversation rather than a monument. Rome is not simply remembered; it is interrupted, reassembled, and experienced anew through the expressive language of contemporary fashion.
