There are many ways to take care of yourself, it could be making sure you get sufficient sleep every night, getting fresh air, avoiding toxic relationships and situations, it's basically doing things to reduce the stressors in your life. I have come to realize that the less stress you have, the better equipped you will be to live your best life.
I have also come to notice a certain trend or behavior in other people, the view of self-care as a luxury, rather than a priority. People make them feel overwhelmed and like they are being selfish, or showing off when they are only doing things that bring them some sort of happiness or inner peace

It's important to assess how you're caring for yourself in several different domains so you can ensure you're caring for your mind, body, and spirit.

Take care of your spirit:
Nurturing your spirit doesn't have to involve religion. It can involve anything that helps you develop a deeper sense of meaning, understanding, or connection with the universe. I personally engage in meditation a lot, I use my crystals often and practice grounding by connecting with Mother Earth while walking around barefooted)

Know your worth:
Self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself as it produces positive feelings and boosts your confidence and self-esteem. Also, self-care is necessary to remind yourself and others that you and your needs are important too.

Stress Management:
While a little dose of stress is a healthy way to give us a nudge that we need to meet the deadlines or finish that overdue task, constant stress and anxiety can have an adverse effect on your mental and physical health. Smart self-care habits like eating healthy, connecting with a loved one or, practicing meditation cuts down the toxic effects of stress by improving your mood and boosting your energy and confidence levels.

Take Care of Your Mental Health.
Mental self-care includes doing things that keep your mind sharp, like puzzles, or learning about a subject that fascinates you. You might find reading books or watching movies that inspire you fuel your mind.
Mental self-care also involves doing things that help you stay mentally healthy. Practicing self-compassion and acceptance, for example, helps you maintain a healthier inner dialogue.

Get Silly
Basically, if it makes you feel like a kid and a little silly do it because it can be a mood booster. Play in any form can cause a cascade of positive neurochemicals, such as serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine.

Cut yourself a break.
We can often be our own harshest critics. When the weight of accountability or perfectionism kicks in, ask yourself: “What would I say to a colleague or friend in the same situation? You would do your best to boost your colleague's mood so why not try to do something for yourself, relax, breathe, and do things to make you feel happy.

When I write articles I feel like I am writing an open letter to myself and others who would love to read it and see if it resonates with them. The world is already filled with toxic tongues waiting to tear you down at any moment, you may be a good person but in someone's book out there you are a bad person, therefore you can not control what other people think or say about you, all you can do is to take care of YOU and be happy.
